Wakey Wakey — Terms of Service

Last updated 15 August 2026

These terms cover the Android app com.undeadstudio.wakeywakey ("Wakey Wakey", "the app") and the relay service it talks to. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not, uninstall it — that is the whole of the exit, and nothing is retained on our side that does not expire on its own.

The short version. Local alarms are yours and never leave your phone. Remote alarms depend on your phone being reachable, so they are best-effort and must not be relied on where a missed alarm would be dangerous. Pro is billed by Google Play, and only you can cancel it. Do not use the app to harass anybody.

1. What the service is

Wakey Wakey is an alarm clock. It also lets someone who has your PIN and password ring an alarm on your phone from theirs. You choose whether to switch that on, and you choose who to give the credential to.

2. Your account is optional

The app works without an account. Signing in with Google exists so that your code follows you to a new phone, and it is required for Pro because a subscription needs somebody to belong to. You may delete your account at any time — see the privacy policy for how, and for what deletion does and does not remove.

3. Your credential, and who you share it with

Your PIN and password together are what let another person wake you. Anyone you give them to can ring your phone at any hour, and can pass them on. That is the feature, and it is the whole of the access control: we cannot tell whether the person sending an alarm is the person you meant to give the code to.

If you want to cut somebody off, change your password in the app. It takes effect immediately and it cuts off everybody, because there is one credential rather than one per sender. If you want a completely fresh identity, generate a new PIN.

You are responsible for who you share the credential with, and for changing it when you no longer want somebody to have it.

4. Alarms are best-effort, and remote alarms especially

Do not rely on this app where missing an alarm would be dangerous or costly. Local alarms use the platform's exact-alarm scheduling and are as reliable as the device allows, but a phone that is switched off, out of battery, in a restricted power mode, or whose alarm permission has been revoked will not ring.

A remote alarm additionally depends on a push message travelling over Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging to a phone that must be online to receive it. Delivery is not guaranteed and is not instant. The sender is told what happened when we know — delivered, dismissed, snoozed, or never acknowledged — and "never acknowledged" is a real and ordinary outcome.

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of availability or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use Wakey Wakey to harass, alarm or distress anybody. Concretely: do not send alarms to a person who has asked you to stop, do not use the message field to send abuse or anything unlawful, and do not attempt to guess or enumerate other people's codes.

The message a sender types appears on somebody else's lock screen, so it is their phone that carries it. We may block a device or a code from the service if it is used this way.

6. Pro subscriptions

Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. It is sold, billed and renewed by Google Play, not by us. Prices, currencies and taxes are Google's, payment is made to Google, and your subscription renews until you cancel it.

You may delete the Wakey Wakey account while its subscription is still active; that remains separate from cancellation and does not stop renewal or billing.

Only you can cancel it, and deleting your Wakey Wakey account does not. Cancel in the Play Store — Google's instructions are at support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481. Refunds are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policy; we do not hold your payment details and cannot issue one.

If a subscription lapses, your code is kept for a limited period so that resubscribing restores it rather than handing you a new one. That period is stated in the privacy policy's retention table.

7. Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. A change that materially reduces what you get will be surfaced in the app rather than left on this page to be discovered.
